THE FOUNDATION FOR PROMOTION OF ARTS DEVELOPMENT
was set up in accordance with the President Decree in July, 1994 on initiative of a number of public organizations, art unions, cultural-enlightening and educational institutions.
Honorary President of the Foundation is Anatoliy TOLSTOUKHOV, Doctor of philosophical sciences, public and political figure.
The Fund’s activity is directed to support art institutions and some persons, who strive for realization of their efforts and putting their new creative dreams into life.
The aim of the Fund is popularization of the achievements of the artists in fine arts, photo, theatre and cinema arts, music, choreography and literature.
The Fund tries to influence upon forming of tastes and feelings, improving of aesthetic and ethical requirements of our contemporaries, who will continue the traditions of Ukrainian and world culture.
Ukraine had been rich in men of talent from time immemorial. From time immemorial our land was famous for philosophers, poets, musicians and painters, so the Fund undertakes the task to consolidate and to develop this historically examined phenomenon, to further its enrichment by new achievements of world civilization. Taking into consideration the realities of the modern society, state of culture and conditions of creative work of the Ukrainian artists, the Fund defined the following priorities of their activity:
- carrying out of a long-term cultural-art program “Artistic dialogues”;
- popularization of traditions and modern acquisitions of national and world culture;
- rendering of organizing and financial assistance to professional artistic bodies, artists and original national gifted persons.
More than 100 veterans of the Ukrainian art and talented young people – the pupils and students of Kyiv’s artistic educational institutions are systematically receiving from the Fund humanitarian and financial help. The Fund is opened for creative initiatives, aimed to restore to life the forgotten and non-investigated cultural phenomena. A very important sphere of activity is a search of talented young people, revealing of new names.
One of the orientations of the Fund’s activity is the assistance in publishing of cultural-art editions, anthologies and creation of TV-programs. In particular, the following editions were published under the support of the Fund:
- cultural informational-analytical bulletin “Art-panorama”;
- Magazine “Booker-Review”;
- TV-anthology “Life, lit up with beauty”;
- TV cycle of the programs “Talks on Frolivs’ka” and “I’m interesting”.
Since the beginning of the Fund’s activity, it assists to publish the cultural edition “Chronicle-2000”. A considerable number of subject editions of this anthology were published during these years, in particular, “Ukraine-France”, Ukraine-Czech”, Ukraine-Israel” and so on. In 2002 the three-volume edition “Ukraine-Georgia” was published. For assistance in its publishing the Honorary President of the Foundation Anatoliy Tolstoukhov was decorated with Order of Honor by the President of Georgia E.A.Shevardnadze. In 2001 the book of A.Tolstoukhov “Quo vadis, Homo?” was published, which concentrated attention on the problems, confronting the mankind on the threshold of the Third Millennium.
In 2003 the Fund became a co-founder of the new cultural edition “Ukrainian Art”.
A new form of work of Fund is opening of “Artistic sitting-room on Frolivs’ka”.
The artistic territory of the Fund is destined for the artists of different painting trends, genres, subject and stylistic orientations. Collective body of the Fund creates atmosphere of kindness, harmony, assistance and comprehension of creative person.
In the “Artistic sitting-room” there is regular exposition of artistic exhibitions, presentations of books, artistic projects, theatrical performances and new concert programs.
The artistic series “Musical Wednesdays on Frolivs’ka”, “Theatre nearby” and “Cinema club” are held permanently.
The Foundation for Promotion of Arts Development is in close collaboration with creative unions, artistic institutions, foreign cultural establishments and other charitable organizations.
The Foundation for Promotion of Arts Development is willing to create a cooperation with organizations in Europe and America.
